Story Idea Submission
We welcome educational article ideas from the dog community for our columns or features.
SPECIFICS:
- Please keep in mind the editorial concept of Dog’s Life magazine. We publish articles that are educational in scope and meant to be thought-provoking about issues in animal welfare. Our mission is solely to promote dog adoption and rescue as well as good dog guardianship. For example, we do not publish stories about store openings, business announcements, breeders or dog shows.
- We have already covered many subjects in Dog’s Life and each issue needs to be very original in its subject and themes. Please make sure to review the content from our previous issues so as not to submit duplicate story ideas.
- Since we publish quarterly (four times a year) we do not publish current events or happenings because they will not be timely when the next magazine comes out. A story submission must be a topic that is general in scope. If your story is about a current event or business announcement we suggest you contact your local daily and weekly newspapers.
- Because of the large volume we receive it can take up to six months for us to review submissions.
- We do not publish any fiction, book reviews, poetry, store or business openings, memoirs or tributes to dogs that have passed. While we believe all of this is important we are limited on editorial space that is currently dedicated to educational ideas for our columns, features and product reviews.
- Please do not contact us regarding the status of your submission. If we elect to publish it, we will notify you.
- All work must prominently include dogs. While we love all animals, we are a dog magazine only. Please do not send story ideas about wolves, cats, horses, rabbits or any other animal.
- This submission form is for story ideas only. They will be reviewed and possibly assigned to our regular columnists and writers. This is not for writers to submit their own stories. If you want to submit a written article click here.
