HOW YOU CAN HELP ANIMALS IN JAPAN

It’s been two weeks since the tragic events in Japan. Along with people, the animals are also in desperate need of help. The best way many of us can help is by donating to the organizations that are working to care for hurt animals, sheltering lost pets and the dog teams working as search and rescue for victims.

JAPAN EARTHQUAKE ANIMAL RESCUE & SUPPORT

A partnership formed by HEART-Tokushima, Animal Garden Niigata, and Japan Cat Network. Their combined forces will focus all funding and resources strictly to rescue, care and support of animals in crisis. Keep up with JEARS rescue efforts on their Facebook page.

ANIMAL REFUGE KANSAI

Any donations made to ARK will be used for the rescue, care and shelter of the animals made homeless from the earthquake and tsunami. You can follow regular website updates on their efforts to carry food and veterinary help to the earthquake area.

WORLD VETS

INTERNATIONAL FUND FOR ANIMAL WELFARE
Rescuers from IFAW have mobilized to Japan to conduct an assessment and assist with animal rescue efforts. One of IFAW’s goals will be to meet with reps from local rescue groups and the veterinary community to discuss potential collaborative opportunities with the National Animal Rescue and Sheltering Coalition.

WORLD SOCIETY FOR THE PROTECTION OF ANIMALS
WSPA is working in collaboration with the Animal Disaster Response Team including the Japanese Animal Welfare Society, the Japanese government and local experts to develop a plan that will support animals in the disaster zone for the next three months.

NATIONAL DISASTER SEARCH DOG FOUNDATION
A non-profit organization that sends trained and certified human/dog search teams to help find victims of disasters. Your donations help support this life-saving resource. Follow the search and rescue efforts of the deployed teams in Japan on the SDF website.
